Q&A: Air Surround Home Theater Speaker System?

I’m looking to buy surround signal for my home living room. I found a yamaha air surround home theater system. It has one center unit and 1 subwoofer. It claims that this will make surround signal just like a multiple speaker system. I don’t want to mount to the walls, so it seems fantastic, but will it really do the trick ?

My living room has 3 walls and one open section connecting the the kitchen.. will that produce the surround signal not to work as efficiently?

It is better than a strait stereo system for overall imaging but you can not beat the real thing.

I would suggest that you listen to it first head to head with numerous 5.1 set ups, and make your own evaluation. Further see what options are out there for your application, there are numerous ways to get surround in that area.

Foremost of my recommendations is to consult a home theater installer, not Best Buy. Best Buy moves product, the installer desires a excellent theater for referrals. Best Buy would have you believe that a pro installer costs a lot of money, but that is not right, in fact most are greatly cheaper than the unqualified installers Best Buy uses. So make sure to shop around.

You are right – the over-sized center speaker that tries to take the house of 5 speakers really need center-wall placement, and un-broken side walls and a rear-wall to work.

But – it will work, but not as well as 5 separate speakers.

I would try this….not to bash any other answers but why pay a pro if u can do it urself…..go to bestbuy or any other electronics stores and listen to some units….find 1 u like with the 5.1 signal…yes meaning all the speakers and then get that one….instead of mounting to the wall just buy a couple speaker stand that u can get at any wally world for like 30-40 bucks and house the speakers on them in the coners behind u going into the kitchen….face the speakers confidential about a 40-45 degree angle so that the signal coming from them would meet in the middle of the room….then place the front left and right speakers in the other corners or on entertainments center if u have one….then center will go right over tv….there u have it…no mounting involved but certainly a better signal….excellent luck

I only want the speakers not the blue ray DVD player just speakers and I dont want to spend more than $ 100 its for my bedroom that not huge but a excellent size.

$ 100 and excellent home theater system are incompatible concepts. A excellent set of speakers could cost $ 1500.

Sorry, but you won’t find anything remotely excellent under $ 100.
This is drastically better than any computer speaker setup. These will signal fantastic considering how small they cost. Trust me, it’s worth the extra $ 60
