I’ve heard a million different ways to do it, but what is the best way to tune a signal system?

I will be running 6 1/2′ Type R gears in the front (tweeters and 6 1/2′s both in door), 6X9 Type R’s in back sides (’03 Eclipse GTS, replacing factory Infinity Signal system)–both running through a 100Wx4 Alpine 4-channel amp. Also, a 12′ Type R sub running through a 600Wx1 Alpine sub amp (both measured RMS). All of this will be running through a CDA-9885 Alpine amp which has low-pass and high-pass filters as well as the usual bass and treble adjustments (and the adjustments on the amps as well).

I have properly placed dynamat farthest throuout as well as correctly wired, even by upgraded 16ga wiring for car speakers.

Where must I initiation with tuning this system? I don’t above all want to use test disk CD’s and dB gauge made for a home theatre, but will if necessary.

Please advise.

dude it sounds like you got everything as best as you can you obviously know what you to do i cant see what your inquiry is but if you something is distorting or something then just exchange the gains on your amp you can also place in an eq for better results but i reckon it’s really up to you how you want your system too signal some like more bass than mids some like more highs and mids some like everything copy wich in my opinion is best cuz your music sounds like it shood unlike some idiots that just have subs and tweeteres that end up just givin you bass and highs and it sounds like crap

One of the top answerer guys, “sparky”, I reckon… Has an Excell program that shows you how to set the gain on your amplifiers with a multimeter. He has posted a link to it many times. I have used it successfully. Just search questions in this area background amplifier gain. All you need is a multimeter that can read AC volts. There are some really low-cost ones out there, mine was $ 7.

The gain is the first place to initiation.

The purpose of the gain is to match the signal volts RMS coming from the source (CD player, etc.) to the input of the amp.

Here is a handbook that will help you set the gain correctly http://www.datafilehost.com/download.php?file=6d26c621

You’ll need a multi-meter (AC voltmeter), Microsoft Outrival and a way to burn an audio CD from an MP3.

If you don’t have Outrival, e-mail me and I’ll send you a condensed version sparky3489@yahoo.com

This site http://www.subwoofertools.com/forum/setgain.asp will also do the same.
