I have always wanted a Bose anything because I like the quality and signal from everything they have done. I know they can be a bit spendy. If there are some home theater speakers from other well renowned and reliable brands that work just as well I am certainly all ears. I am just in the promote of export a really fantastic speaker system!

have a look at the SONY HT-IS100 its tiny speakers are fantastic and the signal it gives is pretty incredible as well judging from the size of the speakers.

Call into any real Hi-Fi store and they will show you any digit of speakers which will out perform Bose for greatly less money, a few that spring instantly to mind are Bowers and Wilkins, Dali Ikon and Tannoy.

Don’t buy into the ‘Bose are best because they’re expensive’ ideal.

Bose aren’t expensive, they’re dear, there is a difference.

Bose systems are a ripoff. Some of their products signal very nice, but they aren’t *that* fantastic, especially considering the price. And the quality is nothing special either. Bose puts all their money into marketing, convincing people their product is high quality and high dollar. In addition, they have non-standard connectors, meaning when you buy Bose you can’t use anything other products. Also, they’re way behind on the HD curve.

I have a $ 200 set of Polk Audio surround speakers (RM6750) that are as excellent as anything I’ve heard from Bose. What are you connecting your speakers to?

Answer by Grumpy Mac
For small speakers that really are reviewed by magazines and given “Editors Choice” awards – look into Anthony Gallo speakers at Roundsound

Fact:

- Bose forces stores to sell all Bose speakers for a flat price to make the illusion that Bose is a premium brand.

- Bose advertises in each issue of AARP magazines to sell to the elderly – not a group renowned for excellent hearing

- Bose sues any magazine that tries to review their speakers.

- Bose does “Road Shows” to demo their speakers but hooks up $ 4,000+ worth of amps and equalizers behind the scenes to make their speakers signal excellent. If you spot the equipment – you are escorted out of the demo room. (I know people who had this happen.)

Stealth Computer (except for the dang printers)

Don’t really know why I took this. I estimate I’m gone the 365 Days project but am not quite ready to start again.

For the last year, I didn’t have a desktop computer. Mine died and it was so ancient, I just didn’t fix it. Just used my laptop from work. But it’s not very excellent and didn’t want to bed in personal stuff on it like PS Elements, Premier and such. It also wasn’t powerful enough to edit video and I have an HD camcorder that I use a lot.

So just this last week, I ordered parts and built a new home PC. I used my TV as my monitor and my home theatre system for speakers. I wanted it to be visually unobtrusive, so I used a half-height tower that fits neatly into the bottom shelf and got a wireless keyboard and mouse. Were it not for the printers, you couldn’t tell there was a computer in here. They are an eyesore.

One of the printers and the scanner are wired or I’d have place them all in the other room. They are doubtless the worst looking things in the room. May look into a wireless print ma?tre d’h?tel soon.
