My Media Center Living Room Set Up
I am looking for a excellent 5.1 speaker set and tuner for under $ 250 alltogether (I am a cheap s.o.b, plus I am layed off from work so the income has been very low). Any answers are greatly appreciated. Any suggestions on what speaker and tuner models/brands will be fantastic as I will be looking for them on ebay after. Thanks alot!!!!!!

At the Wal-Mart everywhere I work we sell a 720W (max) RCA 5.1 setup for $ 150 its not super loud but it sounds excellent. Most Wal-mart stores carry this http://www.walmart.com/catalog/product.do?product_id=5693293 which is quite acceptable for the price.

I would definetly have to say the Logitech X-530 5.1 Speaker System if you’re on a low budget. For only $ 50 these are really pretty excellent. I ordered them from amazon.

Excellent and $ 250 isn’t going to happen.
BUT for $ 250, I would suggest none other than a quality, factory refurbished and warrantied Onkyo from accessories4less. You’ll save 40-50% over export at Circuit City or Best Buy. This site is fantastic, search real home theater forums if you don’t trust me.

Plastic speakers enclosures (should be 3/4″ MDF; or real wood at their prices)

They publish no specifications on their products = they suck
Bose is simply excellent marketing, nothing more. Anyone who thinks otherwise must be a bit slow and needs to do some research.

I got mine for best buy for around 100 (it was on sale though), and it is very excellent. It has excellent quality, gets pretty loud, has a 5 Disc CD/DVD changer, a USB slot. i reccomend it.
